Reported by
SnowtaBass
Lake Minnetonka (MN)
SnowtaBass reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Texas Rigs (Pitch/Flip) technique and Daiwa Tatula SV TW103 Casting Reel - EOL on Lake Minnetonka. Additional comments from this report: "Minnetonka can have vast amounts of submerged vegetation through out the lake. In the summer months the fish can be schooled up underneath the deeper tall milfoil. Pitch a Texas rigged soft plastic into the various milfoil patches. Let the bait hit bottom and twitch it a bit and you will know shortly if they are there. It can take time locating them but when you do it can be a massive school. Cover as much ground as you can and you should be able to find a good quality bite. If you can locate hard bottom within the vegetation it is usually a plus. "

Reported by
Erik Gaffron
Lake Waconia (MN)
Erik Gaffron reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Texas Rigs (Pitch/Flip) technique and Daiwa Tatula SV TW103 Casting Reel - EOL on Lake Waconia. Additional comments from this report: "Coontail and Milfoil Rule the game on this lake for the most part from early to late summer. Targeting patchy and matted vegetation with a Texas rig weedless craw tube, creature bait or your favorite flipping bait is a consistent way to catch both numbers and size. I rig my Texas rig with a 3/8 to 5/8s bullet weight, a VMC Ringed HD wide gap hook sized to my lure of choice (most often 4/0). Additionally don't sleep on the deep off shore rock piles and sand patches scattered throughout the lake."

Erik Peterson reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Texas Rigs (Pitch/Flip) technique and Daiwa Tatula SV TW103 Casting Reel - EOL on Lake of the Isles. Additional comments from this report: "Had a tournament on the chain of lakes on 7-25. Isles produced a lot of smaller fish in the 14"-15" range. The winning bag came from Cedar. Key techniques for the anglers were flipping matted grass or using Texas rigged baits for the shallow fish. Fishing the deep weedlines with drops shots or deep cranks are what produced the bigger fish and the top bags. Recreational traffic on the lakes was heavy starting around 10:00 am."
