Kail’s Fishing Reports

Medicine Lake (MN)

Kail’s Fishing Reports reported catching Panfish / Bluegill using the Ice Fishing Jigs technique and Pflueger President Micro Spinning Reel - EOL on Medicine Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Drill out a flat in 8’-12’ of water find green weeds. I like using the Strikmaster hand auger with a battery drill adaptor, they are light and fast. Drop you jig down and bounce it off the bottom a couple times and pull it up about a foot and keep jigging slow. Watch your electronics and if you don’t see anything in 3-5 min move to the next hole 15’-30’"

SnowtaBass

Lower Prior Lake (MN)

SnowtaBass reported catching Panfish / Bluegill using the Ice Fishing Jigs technique and Pflueger President Micro Spinning Reel - EOL on Lower Prior Lake. Additional comments from this report: "The day started out slow and by the end it was very productive. Highs in the upper 20's and partly sunny. We set up on a basin for bluegills in about 20' of water. Using Kenders tungsten with clam soft plastics we found some decent gills. They seemed to get bored of the colors after a while so we would rotate colors and it seemed to produce quite well. We also had a couple northerns on tip ups throughout the day. Rotating the colors seemed to be the key though as the school moved in and out mid morning to mid afternoon."

13 Fishing Black Betty FreeFall Carbon Ice Fishing Reel - EOL

Reported by
Eric Hoeft

South Center Lake (MN)

Eric Hoeft reported catching Crappie using the Ice Fishing Jigs technique and 13 Fishing Black Betty FreeFall Carbon Ice Fishing Reel - EOL on South Center Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Moved back and forth between deeper open water and the deepest weedline we could find. Mixed waxies and soft plastics as jig trailers, if one option seemed to be losing the interest of the fish we'd switch and usually get a few more bites before having to move to the next spot. Used LiveScope in forward facing mode to track schools and then used down mode to allow the two of us to fish next to each other off of one graph."

Sam Korducki

Chequamegon Waters Flowage (WI)

Sam Korducki reported catching Panfish / Bluegill using the Ice Fishing Jigs technique and 13 Fishing Black Betty FreeFall Carbon Ice Fishing Reel - EOL on Chequamegon Waters Flowage. Additional comments from this report: "Panfish related around the main river channel. Holed and humps proved to be especially important for big gills. Fish of size were finnicky and had to be jigged for several minutes. Water is stained so bright and gaudy colors worked well. "

Higgins Lake (MI)

Omnia Community Member reported catching Yellow Perch using the Ice Fishing Jigs technique and 13 Fishing Black Betty FreeFall Carbon Ice Fishing Reel - EOL on Higgins Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Was fishing the flats near drops. For our tip ups we just ran blues, got a few flags but nothing every got stuck to the hook. We caught a decent amount of perch no keepers. But whenever they did come threw. They pretty much wanted it deadsticked and tipped with a spike or Waxie. We did have one hit a minniow on a spoon though. Bite window was mid day or right before and after sunset for us. "

Pflueger Trion Micro Spinning Reel - EOL

Kail’s Fishing Reports

Medicine Lake (MN)

Kail’s Fishing Reports reported catching Panfish / Bluegill using the Ice Fishing Jigs technique and Pflueger Trion Micro Spinning Reel - EOL on Medicine Lake. Additional comments from this report: "First ice and Last ice is the best fishing, with the temps rising and the snow melting it is bringing oxygen and warmer water into the shallows,. Locate a shallow area and use your camera to find green weeds. Drill out the area and I have been Using My Garmin live to stay on the fish.It is better to have the holes drilled to not spook them in the shallow water. Drop down and use a bouncing action on the jig, if they don't hit right away play keep away with them by pulling away very slowly. Tip the jig with a waxie or a Maggot or a plastic. Good Luck! "
