Dick Majewski
Lake Winnebago (WI)
Dick Majewski reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Finesse Jigs technique and Daiwa Tatula SV TW103 Casting Reel - EOL on Lake Winnebago. Additional comments from this report: "Found a new technique friendly way to skip docks with minimum backlash. It has taken a few years but for me it was more of a equipment change than anything else. I purchased a Lew's Andy Montgomery 6'9" skipping rod which has the right amount of tip and backbone to get a good skipping cast. Then using electrical tape on my spool, I only have around 40 to 50 yards of 20 # test Seaguar Invix line available for the cast. I set the tension knob so the lure ( I have been using only 1/2 oz to get comfortable with this technique) I began practicing the roll cast on the street in front of my home to get the feel for the angle of the cast and practiced in open water before venturing into the shallow docks. It's been an eye opener for me the past few outings and experienced a completely different way to fish docks. After using a spinning rod and getting broken off on pilings this is a way more satisfying way to go."
Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel
$269.99
Reported by
Simi
Green Lake (MN)
Simi reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Finesse Jigs technique and Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel on Green Lake . Additional comments from this report: "The Smallmouth were smashing the Stealth Feider 3/8 jig when paired with the Crush City Bama trailer. Any other color triggered no bites. These fish have been eating crawfish non stop. You can find the largemouth in the weeds pretty consistently and the smallmouth in the sand just off the weed piles. Swimming a jig just off the bottom slowly worked triggered many fish in the 3 to 4 pound range. If you have live scope you can get them on a minnow or dropshot as well. Fish either bite immediately or not at all. Keep covering water. "
