I’ve been having excellent success with the Chatterbait EVO and Chatterspike trailer over the last week or so. The bass have been hitting on a faster than usual retrieve. Steady retrieve only popping the rod to break free from underwater moss.

Larger baits couldn’t seal the deal despite marking lots of fish, so downsizing to a smaller spoon tipped with a medium minnow was the ticket.

Slow rolling this big swimbait just over the top of the rocks always does well in the cooler spring and fall months. 1/8 and 1/4 swim jig heads are best. Up to 3/8 if you need to get down to 12'fow or more.

Well...we had to pull out the entire arsenal this day. The bass were all over the place. Some where up in the shallows, above ledges, some were down on the bottom at the base of ledges and they were still in water column, as the 6th Sense Provoke showed us. First time using the Z-Man micro finesse set up and glad we did. On a day that we truly used everything we had, that was the hot bait of the day. It felt strange going so light and small....but the lightweight rod and reel set up made a 2lb Spottie feel like a 4 pounder. Lot's a fun!

Cast to the up wind side of the trees and move bait slowly using the count down method so the bait falls back to the bottom . Look for any line movement or different feeling of the bait.

Largemouth bass are grouping together and holding close to submerged timber and standing trees. The fish are starting to come to shallow water in search of food. As the weather has been warming up they have been actively chasing moving baits. Squarebills have been getting reaction strikes and slow retrieved spinnerbaits have also been getting bites.

Bass are actively chasing moving baits even in the extremely cold water. They have already started to move shallow and are holding close to cover like submerged wood and rocks. Flat sided crankbaits and lipless crankbaits are working well. Slower presentations such as spinnerbaits and jerkbaits are also getting bit.

Was able to find some pretty good fish on rip rap despite the super dirty, low water conditions. The water was still pretty cold, so they weren’t eating it very well, mainly getting the back hook, but I was happy I could get a reaction bite. First bass of 2025 was a 4lber so hopefully that’s a good sign!

Got out to this lake for the first time this year. Still pretty cool and it was super windy (20-30mph sustained, 30-40mph gusts), so not the easiest in the kayak. Was still able to find some on laydowns with the old reliable ned rig. Nothing huge, but fun!

Most fish came on the Z-man SMH shakey head with the SMH worm in green pumpkin. One came on the WOO EWG Ned, with a Riot Baits vigilante in Riot color. Caught two others on Riot Recon vibrating jig. 5 of 8 we're on the shakey head. All were under docks, boat was sitting in about 10ft of water pitching under docks in about 5ft and dragging back. Most productive were in big creeks near the main lake. Water temp was 57.8, air temp upper 60s low 70s.

Found so open water roaming fish and was excited to catch this nice 22" walleye along with some crappie, white bass and a bonus +/_ 5# hybrid striper. Even the cold 38 deg. water didn't stop these fish from eating
