Best Spybait Line

Omnia collects thousands of detailed fishing reports from anglers across the country to power our local recommendations. Here are the top Line recommendations for using the Spybaits technique mentioned in fishing reports from anglers near you.

Sunline Super FC Sniper

$21.99 – $138.99

Reported by
Dupree

Lake Michigan (IL, IN, MI, WI)

It’s about that time of year where the smallies are moved up pretty shallow on Lake MI. Crushed them on spybaits over large boulder and structure in water between 8-15 feet! If you can’t get them with that, throw on your favorite dropshot combo and work around the structure with that!

Reported by
M MOORE

Don Pedro Reservoir (CA)

M MOORE reported catching Spotted Bass using the Spybaits technique and Sunline Super FC Sniper on Don Pedro Reservoir. Additional comments from this report: "Clear Water Points over 30'+ super slow retrieve. "

Reported by
Bart

Green Lake (MN)

Bart reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Spybaits technique and Sunline Super FC Sniper on Green Lake . Additional comments from this report: "Post Spawn smallies were chasing Perch all over the lake. Low visibility and changing conditions made them hard to keep up with, which is pretty typical of post spawn smallmouth. But when you did they were choking on a spybait."

Sufix 832 Braid

$16.99 – $115.99

Reported by
Nolan

Bear Lake (MI)

Nolan reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Spybaits technique and Sufix 832 Braid on Bear Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Targeting suspended fish off of ledges. Counting the bait down to 7-10ft depth and slow/moderate retrieve speed. "

Reported by
Casey Huebner

Long Lake (WI) (WI)

Casey Huebner reported catching Walleye using the Spybaits technique and Sufix 832 Braid on Long Lake (WI). Additional comments from this report: "The better quality fish were suspended by themselves, off points and humps that had bait on them. Targeting them with livescope, casting past them, and bringing the bait back. "

Seaguar Tatsu Fluorocarbon

$41.99 – $67.99

Reported by
Southshore Smallmouth Charters

Lake St Clair (MI)

Southshore Smallmouth Charters reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Spybaits technique and Seaguar Tatsu Fluorocarbon on Lake St Clair. Additional comments from this report: "Deep or shallow nothing commands a bigger Smallmouth bite like a spybait. The shallow areas of Lake St-Clair offer huge flats that are occasionally populated by big spooky fish who require a long cast and a low profile finess presentation. A spy bait is a great way to cover water in these shallow situations. In deeper situations it can feel like a much slower way to fish when you just factor in sink time and a slower retrieve to keep it down. Don’t forget a quick turn of the handle or to stop it and dump slack in it to get a following semi-neutral fish to commit. "

Reported by
Kent Mittelstaedt

St. Lawrence River (NY)

Kent Mittelstaedt reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Spybaits technique and Seaguar Tatsu Fluorocarbon on St. Lawrence River. Additional comments from this report: "Fished the bassmaster open on SLR. Caught good numbers and decent size up shallow on calm sunny days. Spybait triggered the best bites. I targeted isolated boulders that I could see and made a long cast to get bites. "
