My partner fished a shakey head with a zoom craw or trick worm and occasionally threw a small crankbait. He only caught one small spot all day. My lure of choice was the Megabass Dark Sleeper. We found fish on points. Swimming the Dark Sleeper slow and keeping contact with the bottom was the way to go. I probably had close to 20 hits throughout the day. It took me a little bit to figure out the bass needed to hold the lure a little longer before setting the hook. In the end I boated 11 spots ranging from one to two pounds. Talking to other fishermen who were pre-fishing for a tournament they all said the bite was pretty slow and only caught a few. From their comments I figure I had a pretty fair day. I didn’t take pics as I didn’t catch any picture worthy.

It is more pre-spawn than spawn. The water temp rises throughout the day. The lake has all types of water clarify: clear, stained, and muddy. Caught the best ones off of laydowns in the shade about 1/2 way back in small to medium cuts. Fish were tough but managed to pull together a plan and caught some numbers. Bait fish were deep fish seemed to key in on the spy bait better.Moved shallow and caught a few on the square bait.
