We began our day trying to get a big limit of largemouth fishing boat docks in Elkahatchee Creek. We started with topwater lures and crankbaits to see if the fish were active; we never got a bite. As the sun began to rise more and more, the bite slowed down. By 10 o'clock, we figured out we could get a small limit with a ned rig and a drop shot. We fished almost every boat dock in Elkahatchee, and the creeks headed towards the 280 bridge. We ended up with five fish for five and a half pounds.

On Saturday, we fished the fourth event in the OGS Tournament Trail. We knew before going into the day that it was going to be extremely difficult to land a quality bag of fish. With the amount of rain we had over the past couple of days and the cold front that was coming in, we set our goal to go after largemouth in the cold and muddy water. We started in Elkahatchee Creek fishing around the bank throwing crankbaits around rock, wood, docks, etc. We ended up catching our one and only fish of the day fishing a DT6 Demon on rock. When we caught the fish, the fish looked like it just came up shallow from its winter pattern. Most likely, the fish was eating whatever it can to prepare for the spawn. The fish weighed 3.9 pounds, but given some time it would no doubt be 4 or over. I guess if you are going to catch one fish, make it count!

Fishing a square bill in the back of creeks was slow but we caught better fish. Key was finding shallow rock. Fish seemed to be holding on it and you need to contact the rock on a slow retrieve.
