Fish are moving to spawning locations and some are already on beds. Caught a lot of fat 1-3lbs. Ned rigs dragged along bottom - slower in the morning, faster in the afternoon. Most fish just feel mushy or heavy, very few classic "thunk" takes. Also picked up a handful of fish on megabass jerkbaits. When they hit, it was hard. If the wind is blowing find the warmer murky water.

Fished both days of the KBF Trail at Pineview Reservoir in Utah and unfortunately did not do well day one, but day two I figured out a pattern that worked and took home 8th. The fish were bedding, but unfortunately the weather was not cooperating to allow me to sight fish. So I went with my trusty blind bed technique...a drop shot with the bait only about 4" off the weight. This keeps the bait low and in the fish's face. I caught just shy of 20 fish, but unfortunately only managed to find 4 that were keepers. Though I won't complain as I was the largest non-limit, and there were only seven limits.

drop shot was king during this tough day, roughly 70 kayak anglers on the water during a tournament, working this drop shot along the rip rap wall was the most effective way to elicit bites

Some largemouth are moving to prespawn locations. A few have already made it to backs of bays on heavy structure. They aren't very noticeable and aren't chasing down spinnerbaits and chatterbaits just yet. Find heavy structure such as dead brush piles and fish right into the deepest junk. I fish a 7'2" heavy with 17-20 fluorocarbon. A variety of baits will work. Standard flipping/pitching jigs in green pumpkins, blues, and blacks work best. 4-5 Yamamoto double tail grubs or similar styled craw trailers. There isn't a ton of heavy structure at deer creek, but the rising water conditions have flooded all of the brush that grew from last years epic low water. If the brush provides visible shade, you should be in business. The smallmouth are still being a bit stingy. I've picked up a few on jerkbaits but fishing isn't consistent just yet.

The bass are on the move! Look for shallow grass areas with deeper water near by. Try hopping or ripping a bladed jig through the grass. A few bass have even been caught flipping shallow cover. The water level is coming up and and the fish are getting aggressive. No topwater yet, but it's not too far away. Good luck.

Fish are moving out of wintering holes and starting to move to points adjacent to deep water. Start shallow and move deep until you find them. Found fish on lipless crankbaits and ned rigs.

Water is stained and the bass can be a little tricky to find in early spring. The lake gets lots of pressure, but there are some good bass. Use dark-colored worms, senkos, or jigs. Spinnerbaits can also be productive. Fishing wind swept points and Rip-rap worked out for us.

Fish are moving into prespawn. Lots of bucks shallow. Saw a female cruising shallow. During the afternoon, fish are a bit more active. They were taking finesse ned baits and Megabass jerkbaits. Fish are a bit sluggish but can be found shallow if you cover a lot of water moving slow and methodically.

Use the rocky bottom to your advantage! bouncing a ned off the rocks gave me most of my bites. hope it along the bottom, the tapping of the ned head on rocks I think was the most productive.

Water level is way down here but you can still find bass along rocky outcrops, brushpiles and trees still along water's edge. Slow roll a spinnerbait along these structures and rocky points.
