Wind out of the southwest about 11-15mph, temp right in the mid 60's and water temp right around 48. Spent a while getting the boat operating and only had a bit of time on the water before we got chased off by a storm. Caught one good bass in 7' of water on a lipless bouncing through dead grass at the bottom. Didn't find many schooling fish or bait balls while we were out and it didn't seem like they were setting up for spawn just yet. Daughter caught a pike with a Jerkbait as well.

Bomb a lipless out to any school of fish, and you'll be sure to get the biggest ones to bite. Just cast it behind the school, and lift your rod till you feel 5-8 vibrations, and then let it sink to the bottom. They either bite when on the bottom, or when you rip it out of weeds, so be ready to set the hook whenever!

Cast along mud flats, and slowly drag/bounce the Ned (varie retrieves to find what they are biting) into the deeper water either along the weed edge, or into it. Work it pretty slow, and be sure to incorporate many pauses as you are working it. Super subtle bite, so pay attention.

Last ice just left so the water was just above freezing. Air temps were about 40 in the morning and set to rise to about 50 mid day. Ran moving baits such as the spinner and bladed jig with a few thumbs but no hooksets. Switched up to a deep jerkbait (Berkley Stunna +1 in the Phenom color) and hitting bottom and pausing got me on my first open water bass of 2025!

Fish weren't active, but they'd eat if you put a bait right by them. Big ones were about 10-20 feet off of docks In the grass.

With the high winds and rain that seemed to never stop submerged grass seemed to be the key to find as it filtered the water that was being turned up. Bladed jig to cover water and a Texas rig to slow down and fish spots

The evening started off slow but we found fish in 6ft of water in the thick grass using strike king swim jigs. Towards sunset we were getting bass of hollow bodied frog and horny toad baits.
