Fish were cruising the shallows everywhere. We nabbed a few on jerkbaits, and tried other usual suspects for early season smallies. Eventually tossed a hair jig and after finding out how they wanted it presented ( you'll have to figure that out) it was lights out! We had numerous doubles and many fish in the 4-5 lb range, it being a weekday, we had them all to ourselves!

Water temps ranged from 49 to 55. While smallmouth fishing we were able to also catch a few walleyes. The walleyes were on the deeper sections of rock humps and inside turns of rocky points in 10-20 feet depending on structure. Both smallmouth and walleye were chasing perch. White swimbaits produced all our walleyes.
