Squaw Creek Reservoir is a power plant lake so that means the water is around 60-80 degrees in the winter time. They will spawn around January which can be a blast. The day I went water temps were 81-83 with water clarity around 2-4ft. I was burning a lipless crankbait around standing timber. The fish really liked solid colors since it was cloudy out in the morning. Once the sun came out I switched to a translucent color and started smashing them on that. I usually crank with 10-12lb line but with all the trees I upsized my line to 15lb AbrazX. The drop shot also played for the fish on bottom structure. Good luck!

12/04/22 Water temp 74-54 water clarity 1-3ft. The Squaw Creek bite has finally slowed way down for me and several guides I know out there. My bites have been knocked down to around 40 per day. My average limit is about 17lbs each trip with lots of 3lb class fish. The last trips I have had I have found 2 main patterns. Deeper trees seem to hold quantities of fish that you just can’t find anywhere on the lake right now. These fish are generally schoolers and love eating shad style baits. The other pattern is up shallow in only a few feet of water around lay down wood and reeds. These fish are closer to pre spawn and spawning fish. The water temp up north is 54-69 which is great for spawning fish. I haven’t seen many with my eyes but I have used my livescope to see them set up on bases of stumps and trees doing their thing. I hope this helps!
