Icy roads and winter conditions may stop me from traveling, but not from hitting the local pond. If you have cabin fever like me and crazy enough to get out there, bundle up and take the finesse gear. I had success with Ned rigs, with absolutely NO ACTION. Cast it out and let it fall to the bottom, let it soak for 15-20 seconds and drag it slower than slow. The bass are either near the rocks to keep warm or have their bellies in the mud.

15mph wind gusts and 1-2ft visibility make it hard to throw anything light (under 1/4oz). Heavy jigs (1/2oz and up) with trailers that kick drug along the grass line was productive for hooking into the pre-spawners looking to fatten up, Texas rigged creature baits in to rock piles was also effective.
