Tossing a River2Sea Whopper Plopper is one of my favorite ways to target aggressive smallies. Skaneateles is a fun lake for sheer numbers and they will absolutely smash your topwater baits in the early dawn. I toss the Plopper when there's a bit of chop on the water, but will switch to a standard popper bait if things are more calm. As the day warms up, transition to more finesse type baits in Green Pumpkin variants.

Find the flats immediately adjacent to step ledges and you will find smallmouth putting on the feed bag. Cast to flat in the morning and off the flat in the afternoon.

I love trolling this lake for trout, both lakers & bows. Best bait is Michigan Stingers, but plenty of other spoons have produced fish for me as well as trolling flies. You definitely have to pay attention to your graph to figure out how deep to run your baits. Typically in the spring & fall I'm getting fish anywhere from 30-100ft of water.
