WEEDS! Almost not even worth fishing this time of the year. The weeds are the thickest out of any lake I've ever seen. Many people stop swimming before it's too cold just because of how many weeds there are in the lake. You have to go with an anti-weed or a weed guard- anything along those lines. Treble hooks- impossible. Single hook items are almost just as difficult. Honestly- a tough spot to fish. There was a farmer a couple of years ago that changed his drainage and a lot ended up in the lake. For some reason- this made weeds grow off the charts! If you don't believe me- look it up, there are literally articles about how bad it is. The fishing is really rough.

These fish are just starting to move up to spawn in late spring. You really want to target them with football jigs and jerkbaits. They go crazy over those. Try to work them really slow because more than likely, the water is still very cold this time of year. The fishing is probably still a little difficult because of that winter bite, but around sometimes late March to mid-April. It really all depends on how warm or cold it is that year. Just work the bait slow and try to use some finesse tactics and you'll get hit!
