I've had good luck in the past fishing the shallow vegetation In this lake (texas rig, frogs, topwaters, soft weedless jerkabits, weedless swimbaits etc) but this last trip those patterns weren't working at all so I went deep fishing 12-20 ft of water with mid to deep diving cranks and drop shot. The sweet spots seemed to be in the 12 to 15 foot transitions near schools of bait fish, deep laydowns, and deeper bottom hugging grass. Several cranks were working but the 5XD in a Perch/Sugar Daddy color was a big producer in back to back days. My usual drop shot with Zman Trick ShotZ or the JDM baits- OSP Mylar Minnow and Fish Arrow Flash J produced in the clean up roll following cranking. They were biting the 5XD through out the day with consistency. No real tanks but high numbers.
