Actual bait was a Megabass X-80 and not the X-70. They don’t have that as an option. 2.5 inch and not the 2.75 inch and .25 oz bait. They would not eat anything else. Used larger jerk baits, structure jigs, swim baits, and even swim baits. They liked the smaller profile and with very light twitches of the rod tip. Actual rod is the Orochi xx “Ronin” which is no longer produced. Great jerk bait rod. Reel used is a Shimano Miravel with 15lb braid with a 6lb Seaguar leader.

On this day, I targeted submerged timber on transition areas in front of shallow flats off the main lake. Medium retrieve speeds with the occasional long pause. I looked for softer bottom areas with sand/mud. 6-10ft was where I found them stacked but I would catch the occasional fish moving up onto the flat. Wind was moderate and variable (5-10 mph NW) with blue bird skies. Outside temp was in the upper 50’s.
