On 10/25 was out on North Long over in Crow Wing County, Central Minnesota. I fished from 3:00pm-6:00pm and I don’t regret it. I found a fairly smally area , maybe 18ftx18ft that was loaded with cabbage and coon tail. This particular vegetation was bright green and clearly still alive. I fished the same area for the whole afternoon and caught well north of 30 fish. I typically throw a jig (stealth feider), spinner bait (mega bass or war eagle compact) or a bigger swimbait this time of year. I started with my jig and noticed I was bringing up really good vegetation. (I will typically do that on purpose in the fall to know if it’s worth fishing.) I had 2 or 3 bites on my jig and wasn’t believing that area only had 3 fish on it. I casted a jig worm / outkast tackle perfect ned 1/8 oz chartreuse and from their on out i caught more fish on every cast then not. I fished that same area till 6 when it was time to go home. On any lake period vegetation is a giant factor in the fall, especially if it’s alive or bright green versus brown or fallen over. These fish were in 8ft-10ft fow, working the jig worm at a semi medium pace was key. I would give it an initial pop then once I knew I was caught on grass I’d rip it out and just let it sit. That triggered a bite more times than not. I know we always talk about big baits during the fall, which is very true but that jig worm will catch them all yr around. Another key deal, the spot I went to historically holds bass in the winter. I feel like these fish have moved to where their most likely going to be spending their whole winter. If you were successful on the ice catching a few largemouth, may not be a bad idea to run over to those areas and check them. Typically I’ll be throwing a outkast tackle money jig but ran out a week or 2 ago. The perfect ned is a great way to substitute for that money jig. Good luck guys!

Finding the best green cabbage patches close to deep water produced the most bites and sometimes they would miss the spinnerbait so following up with the wacky rig produced a couple and actually the biggest of the day.
