McCarrons is a smaller lake that warms up quick relative to others in MSP. Clocked lake at 47-48 degrees while Minnetonka was still in the 41-42 degree range on the same day. Lots of smaller crappies run the shallows immediately after ice-out. I have had luck finding female LM moving in early to mix with the crappies

Good day for doing lots of exploring. Drilled a number of holes in a grid pattern to learn the area. Found lots more success closer to sure in 10-20 feet of water. Neighbor caught a nice size northern on a tip up in one of the holes today. Use a Gold Northland Rippin' Shad 1/8 oz to quickly mark fish in the grid.
