Shallow, within 2' of the bank where the depth drops fast. The bass hit the bait almost as soon as the bait hit the water.

The lake was still mostly frozen but not enough for ice fishing safely. I hiked downstream from Lower Dam to where the stream opens up into a basin area that was completely thawed. Caught this pickerel fairly quickly. Glad it was a lip hook since I forgot to bring forceps or pliers along!
