Fished on Little Birch Lake for the first time ever during the Minnesota Fishing Opener. Scouted around the main lake points and found some fish staging near the first contour 'drops' as they were getting ready to push up into the shallow reeds to bed. Found a creek inflow with running water and hard bottom and did most of my catching there. Lots of quality fish in the two pound range with a handful of three pounders mixed in. Dragged a football jig in about 2-3 fow and caught them until they stopped biting every cast and switched over to a Ned rig to pick off some more.

Points
Target long sandy/gravel points near deep ledges. Stay in 10-12 FOW, make long casts. Most bites came on the pause while working the bait. When I was able to watch fish follow the bait to the boat, I drifted away and fired a Ned Rig in the area as was able to connect with the fish after a few casts.
