The perch bite at the Missisippi backwaters has been absolutely great and will continue to get better if a person is willing to put in the work. A slow start in the morning paid off before noon. The bite was consistent with a lot of keeper perch caught. The go to lure still seems to be a Clam Pinhead Pro tipped with a minnow head. Most of these perch were caught in 16-25 feet of water. It's only going to continue to get better!

Fished pool 4 this past Sunday on the search for Jumbos. We hopped around most morning in shallow flats but could not find any of the quality sized ones there. It wasn't until we moved deeper into 20-30 feet that we started finding the Jumbos. You needed to pick through them but the quality ones were all above 12". We found that they wanted nothing to do with a waxie and jig and chose a Clam Pinhead minnow in any color it seemed. Deadsticking also produced nice fish but not as consistent as aggressive jigging.
