The key for finding these fish was looking for the deeper banks with a mix of boulders and gravel that was windblown and with as little vegetation as possible.

Good chasing smallmouth around in shallow water, twitching and cranking shallow running crankbaits. Areas of visible rock were easy to target with a mix of cranks. Twitching the original Rapala floater was the most fun because some were willing to strike on the surface. Post-spawn fish were active throughout the day but had to cover a lot of water looking for the bigger fish. Drop-off areas near boulders held most of the bigger fish.
