This time of year on the Kissimmee Chain I usually look forward to a cold front. The reason is it puts most of the bass that are around spawning locales in to the matted grass. 1.5 Oz tungsten sinker, 7-9, 6 power Scenko Stix Flip Stick, 8:1 Reel, and a Gambler lures Burner craw gets the bite every time. They key is identifying the mats adjacent to the spawning areas and than dialing in the depth and composition of the productive mats. It may take a while to get the first bite but once you get dialed in, your efforts can play big dividends and put tournament winning stringers in the box.

Caught a bunch of large bucks flippin thick matts of vegetation, but also sparse clumps of mother's tongue and reeds. The key was fishing shallow! All of the fish caught yesterday was in two feet of water or less. My go-to setup was a Denali Kovert 7' 8" Extra Heavy Flippin Stick paired with a Quantum Smoke S3 8.1:1 with 60 pound Sunline X-Plasma Asegai braid pegged with a 1 oz. WOO! Tungsten Never Chip Flippin' Weight, a VMC Heavy Duty Flippin' Hook rigged with a Missile Baits D' Bomb in Ballistic Bruiser. The big females should be moving in in the next week, if not sooner with the full moon. Seen a few beds with no females on them.
