From summer through the fall and winter, the bass both smallmouth and largemouth will be set up deep offshore. Alabama rigs, dropshots, and dimiki rigs work over deep structure and brush piles.

When the a-rig quit working I picked up the Carolina rig and was able to catch a few more from each spot. I drug it under the bait very slowly in order to catch fish.

My friend Scott and I fished a wildcat tournament on Lake James. We won the derby thanks to a pair of 5-lb smallmouth bass. All fish were caught around schools of shad on the Catawba side of the lake on the Duckett Fishing BD 3" Subtle Tail in the Sexy Herring color paired with a 7' Duckett Fishing Medium Jacob Wheeler Signature Series spinning rod. This lake is really showing out right now!
