Fishing the Super Derb outta Palatka on the St Johns River we ran down to George and was able to catch some fish on the Lake when the tide was unfavorable... As many in the area know, St Johns is a tidal fishery and quite often the tide is just not right in the area you are in. During these periods of water not moving I would burn down to Lake George and throw lightweight texas rigged Speed Worms around the flooded cypress trees that can be found along the banks of Lake George. I would simply hug these trees, burn down the bank, swimming a worm around them. These fish were setup to chase so i was able to fish fast and cover water. Caught some very nice keepers to help fill a bag doing this technique 2 days in a row during the derby! Any questions feel free to reach out!

When in Rome... The bite was tough on our first ever trip to the St. Johns river! The key for us on this trip was finding the big post spawners in and around the springs who were looking for a big meal. The glide bait was hard to beat on this trip putting a 5.5lber in the boat!
