Post-Spawn bass were still visible in about 15-20 feet of water on outside weed edges in Williams Bay. On the outside weed edge there were some key gravel and rock transitions. Hopping the Ned rig there got some nice bites including this largemouth. The fish were definitely roaming a lot earlier in the morning. This exact bait works wonders for me it’s an excellent Ned rig color.

In the post spawn fish were super tight to docks and boat slips. You would practically get bit every pitch under the dock, sometimes from pesky rock bass. But there were some great fish, too. Every fish came when I would shake the worm and then let it sit and move with the water. As the worm settled down the fish would slurp it right up. They also ate the dropshot hopping it along the bottom.

Early in the morning we were throwing topwater Whopper Ploppers over 15 foot flats with submerged weeds. I was able to pick up a nice 3 lb smallmouth using the constant retrieve with intermittent pauses and jerks and that worked well. That’s my favorite retrieve that I use everywhere and it catches fish in ponds as well as river and lakes.
