I had a small weather window to fish Fayette yesterday morning. I got to the ramp at 6:45 AM and made it out to the main lake point I like to fish this time of year with stumps and hard bottom. I drug a Carolina rig around from 6:55 until 8:00 AM using a 1/2 oz tungsten bullet with a 24” leader and a fluke I pour myself. The color is similar to tilapia magic. I caught 2 and broke one off in a tree that I couldn’t stop once I set the hook. I left that spot and went south because I knew the wind was forecast to get to 10-15 out of the SSE in Fayetteville. So it gets to blowing 15-20 on the lake. I fished the SE coves up shallow looking for spawners and did not see a single bass up shallow. I tried top water, swim jigs, and a wacky rig. The standing timber was covered up with boats, so I headed to the dam. I got up as close to the dam as I possibly could and paralleled the rip rap throwing a frittside 7 HD threadfin. I didn’t stop catching from 11:00 AM until I left at 5:45 PM. None of the fish were big but it was a consistent and fun bite.
