Early Crappie fishing is a great time to catch a few fish, right after the ice goes off the fish are normally deep. Use your electronics to locate schools. Look outside the shallow bays and channels on the first and second break. When you find them spot lock over them and vertical jig them watching your jig on your electronics and let the fun begin. Tie a short piece of mono about 3 feet to the jigging rap then to a small barrel swivel and to the braid. Good Luck

My parents live on the lake and I watched boat after boat come thru the reeds with Texas rigs, moving baits etc. I noticed that the reeds were getting beat up pretty hard and producing less and less fish. While casting off the dock (and from the boat), I threw my jig, ned rig, dropshot a few feet from the edge of the reeds and shook slack. Be patient with pressured fish. Slow presentations such as ned rigs and drop shots produced the most offshore bites
