Alewife
As the ice states to finally melt, the smallmouth have moved up closer to the 10-30 foot range feeding on Alewife. These fish are constantly moving chasing bait but when you find one you'll find more. Keep bait in the middle of the water column and reel bait in at a slow retrieve.

Bass were starting to group up on steep drops near turns on main lake points. The fish were keying on schools of baitfish in 25-35 fow, near the sloping areas of the flats. Areas with bottom composition changes seemed to hold more active schools of bass as opposed to do-nothing points or over open water
