Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonWinterStructureReedsWater temp was 61 degrees with 10-15 miles per hour wind. Cruised along the banks casting the 3” kietech easy shiner on a weighted 1/0 1/8oz swimbait hook. It was overcast so I added a gold under spin to the weighted swimbait hooks. You can buy the loose willow blades, snap rings, micro swivels and make them your self for pretty cheap. I just slide the swivels over the hook before rigging the kietech. We caught 32 bass just slow rolling the swimbait along the reeds over submerged grass mainly in 2’-6’ of water.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft JerkbaitsSeasonWinterStructureLedgesI used the the Rapala Freeloader. It is a 4.25" jerk bait style lure that has ribs and a really pointy tail. I did not experience any blue gills but I would think they would bite the tail right off pretty regularly if you are fishing around them a lot. I fished the the same bait all day and it held up great. The Jig Head is a VMC Hybrid Swim bait Jig Head in 3/16 oz. You have to spin the bait onto the keeper but it worked great. Video is on my YouTube Channel BRandomFishing Titled Rapala Freeloader - New BAIT on the Lake Review

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonWinterStructureSubmerged VegetationWater temp was 62 degrees fish the submerged vegetation 15-20’ water especially steep drop offs. Using the active captain app I set my graphs map settings to have a color pallet of red so any part of the lake with depths of 15-20’ would stand out and this made it super easy to target locations on the maps before I arrived on the lake. Slow rolling a Keitech easy Ayu color along the reeds was good toward the end of the day

Largemouth BassTechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonFallStructureReedsIn October the fish move from chasing minnows in 20-50 ft of water in big schools to pushing the minnows up into the reeds. They are highly active and will chase a buzzbait and smash it all the way to the boat! It is a very fun time of year to fish and the bass will hit anything moving fast on top. Walking Frogs and poppers also work great. This lake has small forage and smaller baits seem to perform better than larger baits. Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonFallStructureReedsWorked Zoom Trick worm California 420 Texas rigged working reeds and grass. This worm is the ticket. Used them along the dam as well and caught fish. This worm also works well on on Decker Lake in Austin. My fishing partner and I caut around twenty five bass in four hours. 6:30 am till 10:30 am

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReedsI tried a 3.3" and 2.8" fat swing impact. Both baits fit well on the 1/8oz owner flashy swimmer hook. I have had hookup issues with anything over 3" on this hook in the past and today was not any different. I missed 6 fish before I switched and then I only missed one. I think the smaller fish will short strike the 3.3" and not get the hook. If you look at where the spinner blade is, if a fish strikes there they will only get the back half of the 3.3. The 3.3 is also a lot fatter, so it does not have as much room for the bait to slide. Here is the link to the YouTube video I made on this trip. https://youtu.be/jw7alyRQ0BM?si=P3Af62USSaUO9MVC
