Water temp was 61 degrees with 10-15 miles per hour wind. Cruised along the banks casting the 3” kietech easy shiner on a weighted 1/0 1/8oz swimbait hook. It was overcast so I added a gold under spin to the weighted swimbait hooks. You can buy the loose willow blades, snap rings, micro swivels and make them your self for pretty cheap. I just slide the swivels over the hook before rigging the kietech. We caught 32 bass just slow rolling the swimbait along the reeds over submerged grass mainly in 2’-6’ of water.

I used the the Rapala Freeloader. It is a 4.25" jerk bait style lure that has ribs and a really pointy tail. I did not experience any blue gills but I would think they would bite the tail right off pretty regularly if you are fishing around them a lot. I fished the the same bait all day and it held up great. The Jig Head is a VMC Hybrid Swim bait Jig Head in 3/16 oz. You have to spin the bait onto the keeper but it worked great. Video is on my YouTube Channel BRandomFishing Titled Rapala Freeloader - New BAIT on the Lake Review

I tried a 3.3" and 2.8" fat swing impact. Both baits fit well on the 1/8oz owner flashy swimmer hook. I have had hookup issues with anything over 3" on this hook in the past and today was not any different. I missed 6 fish before I switched and then I only missed one. I think the smaller fish will short strike the 3.3" and not get the hook. If you look at where the spinner blade is, if a fish strikes there they will only get the back half of the 3.3. The 3.3 is also a lot fatter, so it does not have as much room for the bait to slide. Here is the link to the YouTube video I made on this trip. https://youtu.be/jw7alyRQ0BM?si=P3Af62USSaUO9MVC

I made a video of the outing https://youtu.be/yTt6Xdp5lRk Kayak fishing, casting tight up against or just into the reeds was getting the job done. I started out at sun up but as the day went on the bite did not cool off. The fish were biting all day until I got to wet and cold to continue, haha. I had some really good eats and one time a 17 1/2" bass almost pulled the rod out of my hands! Such a good time.
