Had a blast on Athens, chasing schooling largemouth busting on schools of shad. Had good success with the Evergreen shower blow in shad pattern amongst the schools and running parallel to pads and over submerged vegetation

I went out to the lake for the first time ever on Sunday, March 7th, 2024 with my best friend and tournament partner Iain, and we ended up taking a bank fisherman at the lake fishing with us as well. It was partly cloudy all day, with the sun popping out more in the afternoon, and outside temperatures starting around 70 degrees and reaching almost 90 degrees by the end of the day. The water temperatures ranged from 68-76 degrees, and the water clarity ranged from 1-5 feet of visibility. There was a slight breeze at about 7 mph coming out of the southwest all day. We spent the day fishing shallow lily pads and submerged vegetation, as well as a couple docks, with a wacky rigged senko, a texas rig (for bed fish), and a swim jig, and were able to catch close to 30 total fish, with our best 5 bag weighing in at 18.63 pounds, and our big fish of the day being a 5.24 pounder that Iain caught, pictured with the report. All in all it was a great day of fishing for bass in all three stages of the spawn, and we can't wait to get back to Lake Athens sometime soon. Thanks for reading and tight lines!
