Fishing back on Monday 4/12 with my dad, water temps in the mid 50's we were casting swim jigs, vibrating jigs, spinnerbaits and even senko's to see what the fish wanted. Fishing around old pads and some new growth in shallow water, we were able to get on a Vibrating jig pattern casting in isolated pad clumps and on the edges of the larger pad fields. Fishing in 2-5ft of water we figured out the pattern throwing Green Pumpkin vibrating jigs, I was using the Picasso Aaron Martens Shock Blade in 3/8oz, with a Reaction Strike Chunky Shad swimbait trailer in Blue Gill as my primary bait. My dad was using the same bait as well. One thing to note the water was crystal clear and as the sun moved and wind changed direction so did were the fish were located. They seemed to gravitate to the side of the patches that had shadows on them, and as the wind picked up the further or tighter to the clumps they were staying. We ended the day with 15 bass between my dad and I along with some pike mixed in. Average size was roughly about 2lbs for all the bass that we caught. Great day for the first time being on the lake this year.

Took my boys bluegill fishing on Sunday the 29th. Hudson is full of pads, coon tail, cabbage weeds. The shallow end is a huge pad field with some open area's and channel lanes for boats. All the bluegills we caught were in the main lake area, fishing on top of the drop off in the pads. Pad edges, and deeper pads were the key. My son Brad caught the largest bluegill I've ever seen for his very first fish. Fishing was not easy, probably would have been better off shore further in deeper weeds but there were plenty of boats on the water riding around due to the hot weather. Ended up catching 20-25 total for the day, keeping 13. It was a fun day which is all that matters!
