Great time finally having success down south with a spoon it is a great bait to throw up north by me this time of the year but south is a killer time. I was fishing the main points of bridges find the bait balls or schooling fish on my livescope then I simply cast it 25 feet past the schools of fish. Then wind it in pause wind it in pause open the spool let it shoot back. It was fun because scope allowed me to not get hung up and watch the fish eat it. Simple approach I use 20 lb line fluro to a barrell swivel everyone has their own size they like I just use a size 1. I will then tie a 1.5 leader with a feathered treble then tie the spoon on as you could see in the picture. I use the plastic off the trailer hooks then thread it on the line so it can't pass the swivel. This allows the bait to look as if it is chasing smaller bait and will get schooling fish fired up ! When a fish bites crack them because spoon fish are tough to land due to the leverage you get on the hook binding the split ring !

One of the first flatheads I caught bass fishing what !???!?!?!?! Come to find out something cool and hidden in this particular spot yet all over the lake ! For some odd reason the fatties were going insane for the big hair as well as the dink bass. I would throw hair from 15-22 ft. It very simple and fun and doesn't take much time to learn ! Bomb it out give it a 3 Mississippi count burn it spot for a 5 Mississippi and then repeat repeat repeat every 7 seconds. Fish shoot up and simply eat it . May I add this flatty also spit up a shad 6 inches by 3 inches which is the same profile as the hair that Cumberland lures uses ! Must keep this above the rocks and sand this is a mid water column bait that only works in the higher or mid columns of the water ! Love this bait mainly uses very cheap and easy gets em all. Hook never bent on the big flatty or multiple 3+ bass.

Got to finally get them good on a 10xd upnorth great to use this time but also this is one of the places 10xds really shine. Simple prices I use my helix 12 to find the ledges as I am driving down the lake 20-10 drop offs are the ledges you want to fish. on A humminbird that is dark blue to a lighter blue next to each other main lake. You throw this further than the bait ball or school of fish and then you slowly wind and let the bait stay above the fish as it looks more realistic. I keep it simple 12 lb mono its got a little bit of give yet with the big swing you make with a crank bait series rod it all evens out, also the line is much more stronger than fluro as it can handle the tension better. use a 200 size reel or 150 to allow you for maximizing cast-ability. Hooks are very strong and durable you will not need to change these puppies !
