Fished a high school tournament with about 250 boats at goose pond today. Had 12.12 pounds and a 3.75 big fish fishing over a grass flat with a lipless and chatterbait and caught some on a drop shot on a rocky bank. There were upwards of ten 20+ pound bags with the winners having over 26 pounds. Guntersville is really fishing well right now.

I went flipping and pitching for Smallmouth. Flipped rocks and rip rap on the main river. I caught 6 smallies with the best coming on rip rap in 10ft of water.

The mini max is one of my favorite chatter-baits for live scoping. It shows up well and sinks like a rock. This makes it good for live scope because it can get down to the strike zone faster.

Bass were staging in winter areas feeding on shad. Baits needed to contact eel grass and be ripped free.

The rod in the picture is a 6’10MH Jenko DCVR Gambler. This rod is an amazing tool for fishing docks. The rods length allow for very accurate cast and enough back bone to pull fish out of cover. Paired with a high gear ratio reel and braided line your can pull fish out of anything. I would always recommend tying a leader so even pressured fish will bite.

Laydowns
With water temps in the Mid 60's, the Majority of the Bass in Mid April have already spawned, but pockets with large laydowns and hard bottom area great place to target a mix of the last few straggling fish staging to spawn and big females immediately staging as they complete laying their eggs. Target these laydowns with long accurate & quiet casts with your favorite stick worm neko rigged, with VMC Weedless Neko hooks and small 1/16oz Neko weights. This pattern should work well between South Sauty creeks down to Siebold area. Another good pattern for this time of year, is to find isolated humps with grass and shell, cover them with Swimbaits and C-Rigs
