This morning I went out to the river where it was mostly shallow but there are deep holes every now and then to target any species I could catch. There was some current at the river today so there was a bunch of tiny shad running in it. Today it was kind of cloudy with the sun peaking out. The water was really clear. I saw there was a bunch of tiny shad running and being chase by fish so I threw the megabass spark shad on a 1/8 okashira head. I was throwing this tiny swimbait on a st croix mojo bass 7’1 mh spinning rod with a shimano stradic fl 4000. I had the stradic spool with 15lb braid to make longer cast and a 12 lb mono leader to absorb some of the abrasion of the rocks. I would throw this swimbait up current and slowly reel it back just barely off the bottom. Most of my catfish bits are out of deep wholes and some of the bass I caught was in shallow water out of the current.
