The spawning fish were hard to catch and with a little front rolling through I went straight for some wind blown points with great results. I targeted what I believe to be post spawn fish firing the NEW Berkley Powerblade in the 1/2oz Compact version tipped with a Maxscent Flatnose Minnow to bulk the profile up some. After I went through the area a couple times with the spinnerbait I would switch to a finesse carolina rig with a Power Jerk Shad to pick off the more inactive fish. With more fish finishing up spawning and leaving the bank this pattern will continue to get better.

There is nothing quite like spring fishing in East Texas. I was finally able to sneak off to my favorite lake for a couple hours this past weekend and it did not disappoint. Focusing on banks with reeds that had wind blowing on them we were able to target feeding fish who were using the reeds to spawn. We caught them on a variety of lures including a topwater walking bait, rattle trap, but the most proficient was a vibrating jig. This pattern will stay strong as fishing to contribute to spawn and move into the post spawn right before they head offshore.
