I had great luck in 30ft of water mid February. I was jigging 4mm jigs with plastics and live bait. Fish were lethargic but once you found the right color such as wonder bread or gold the fish woke up. When marking fish don't give up they will start biting late afternoon early evening.

The canal on Eagle lake just started producing. Lots of other anglers fishing the canal. Only managed a small bluegill and lost one big bite that almost took the rod out of my hands. Left of parking lot is where the crappies are mostly staged. Use bobbers and minnows or bobbers and small 1/32nd hair jigs. Air temp was 47 degrees and water was still a bit cold, felt around high 30’s maybe low 40’s. Need more warm up for more crappies to start coming in. Good sign is the sunnies are already coming in, so they crappie spawn should be happening soon as they are ready!
