The bass and pike were in 5 to 8 feet of water in the weeds. Weather was bright sunny no clouds or wind. Topwater did not work and spinnerbait was the choice for pike. Changing over to the red eye was the trick t catch bass. A swimbait by dirty jigs with a paddle tail trailer worked well also. Retrieving both baits with a pause triggered bites.

The weather wa medium winds 7 to 10 mph. Went to the calm side of the lake and fished in the 3 ft water ranges and around docks. I was using a popper style bait. Caught several small fish. My fishing buddy was skipping the docks with a Yamamoto Senko. We caught equal amounts of fish but never caught a 14 in fish. Moved out to 6 to 10 feet of water and drop shotted flat worms to only catch more of the same small fish. I was still a day of catching fish and enjoying one another company. He was someone I started fishing with 25 years ago.
