This trip was a tournament I fished out of my Hobie Pro Angler 14 and was all about big 4lb smallies on beds. I didn’t quite expect the fish to be all bedding at this point, so I didn’t have a lot of highly visible white plastics in my arsenal. I threw a Texas rig with a 1/4 ounce weight and 3/0 EWG hook with a green pumpkin ZMan Big TRD. Although I couldn’t see the bait or the fish very well, I just waited for my line to tighten up and it was game on. All of the best beds were found tucked against the largest boulders in any given shallow (3-5 foot) flat area.
