Water clarity was amazing for this lake, could easily see 5/6' into what is normally super muddy water. Temps hover right around 81° the whole time we were out. Wind was coming out of the east at about 20mph when we first go out but died down to nothing by the time we got off the water. Significant amount of wake boats and pleasure craft being rather inconsiderate on the lake. It's a small lake, and was hard to fish with some of the wakes being put up along with the wind. Tons of crappie in the lake. Started the night off with a few of those on various lures but eventually got into a routine of drawing bass out of the lily pads by hitting the small gaps and paralleling them with a Jerkbait. Put two keepers and caught plenty of 13-13.5" doing that. It seemed a lot of the other boats out (and the winning team) were on an excellent frog bite, but we couldn't buy a hit. As the wind died down so did the jerkbait bite. Caught one early on using BFS and a picu picu, but switched over to a wacky rig and put several small ones and a ~3lb'er in the boat. The fish was super aggressive as well, hit the bait, pulled off, then went right back for it. About 8:30 we started noticing some popping at the surface away from shore so we started making our way out further and started throwing poppers (Shimano World Pop) and I was hitting one fish just about every cast. Just small pops and letting the lure sit. Whenever I was paused I got a hit including another bigger keeper. Winning weights were 9, 10.5, and 10.9 w/ big bass around 3.5lbs.

It was HOT out. Air temps were about 90°, water temps ranged from 85° to 90° in the shallows. Mostly bluebird skies. Quite a few pleasure craft out on the lake as well, so pretty heavy traffic. Vegetation is THICK. We started off hitting the pads with some frogs and got a quick hit on a 13", and then not another frog bite the rest of the evening. First keeper was caught dragging a yamatanuki on the bottom pretty slowly (popping it through the weeds). The rest of the keepers were all caught on a wacky rig. Every fish caught on the wacky was a cast to the edge of the pads (either where the pads came out to a point or where there was a deeper pocket in the pads, I eventually stopped targeting the longer unbroken stretches of pads unless there were surface disturbances. I was just letting the wacky fall to the bottom and wiggling the tip of the rod until I got a bite. Tried very hard to get a top water bite going into the evening as there was a substantial amount of surface action. It looked to be a recent Bass spawn as there were a lot of 2.5-3" bass in bait balls moving around and popping at the surface. We actually caught a substantial number of fish, but only had 5 keepers for the night, but managed to win. Weights- 8.89lbs 7.7lbs 6.6lbs Big Bass - 3.6lbs
