I only got about an hour on the water as we were fighting ridiculous wind in the kayaks. The couple of smaller bass I did catch came off a dock & seawall on the north end of the lake. The wind was blowing hard against the particular area so I cast my jig out in about 6-8 ft of water slow dragged it along the bottom near the dock & seawall and got crushed!

I was out for the Eclipse and just fishing along the bank. Caught my fish flipping a 1/4* oz jig up to the bank and med-slow retrieve back. My fish were under docks and on rock.

The absolute best lure here and in these smaller rivers & creeks is the Arkie Lures mini deep crankbait. They don’t have it listed here, but they very cheap so if you lose one getting hung up no big deal. Throw natural colored ones in decent current & along the bank making sure it’s making contact with the bottom. A smaller natural colored jig will always get bit as well!

I caught this one from the shore in an area that you can't get down to grab the fish. I was a little worried with the 8lb Mastiff pulling it over the railing but it had no issue and the fish was landed!

Was throwing the BFE Texas Rigged in to a Beaver Dam and pulled this guy out! You want to move really slowly and get between every stick if possible.

I was using a netbait flex worm in tilapia magic. Working it through, over, and around the grass weightless. Didn't catch any bigs but was surprised the mustad finesse hook held up in the thick stuff being a finesse hook.

What a great day on one of my favorite NW Ohio lakes, Oxbow Lake. Started out throwing the Core Tackle 1/8 oz Ozark rig with a green pumpkin Strike King Rage Craw around and under laydowns. It didn't take long to land the first bass. When there was too much cotton from the cotton wood trees to throw the baitcaster I switched to a whacky rigged, Z-Man ZinkerZ in green pumpkin or Junebug. This set up also netted it's fare share of bass. When I got to a section of the lake with rip rap banks I threw the Strike King KVD 1.0 Square Bill in Natural Bream. This netted quite a few bass and the largest by average for the day. A storm came through and after loading up the kayak I gave a try from the bank throwing the Strike King KVD Splash Topwater Bone / 3". I was amazed and thrilled that this quickly was catching fish and over the next hour I caught 15 total, and 10 all over 12 inches the biggest being 16 inches.

Afternoon and evening of fishing out of the Kayak on West Harbor in Port Clinton OH. I fished the swamp area of West Harbor. The bite was a bit slow to start. I did manage a few 15inch plus largemouth using the various techniques listed. I also caught one using the Core Tackle Swim Jig 3/8 oz in Guilty Pleasure with a Strike King Rage Menace Grub in Bluegill. The majority of the fish were caught in under 2 feet of water. whacky rigging a Missile Baits The 48 Stick Worm in Green Pumpkin and a Z-Man ZinkerZ in Mudbug.

Lake Erie got a little stingy when it came to catching absolute football-sized smallmouth, so we went back to where we knew green ones would be staging to move up to spawn and caught some flipping timber! The "Lil' Magnum" jig by Beast Coast is emerging as my favorite flipping jig on the market! Hope you check them out!!

Fishing around submerged stumps in flood conditions. Water was being lowered so fish were off the bank. Found the clearest water I could find when the main river was extremely muddy and blown out.

Bass were hitting all day along the bank. Used both Baby Bluegill and pure white super flukes with great success. Ned rig was very effective about 20-30’ off the bank.
