Fished the 1st club tournament of the year out of Louisville point park. Cold front had moved in after a few weeks of unseasonably high temps and plenty of rain. We targeted flats in coves primarily targeting areas near docks with wood pilings that were still in 2 to 4 feet of water. Started the morning water temp was 53.8 degrees and caught about 6 near one specific dock that had a few stumps in front of it. With water clarity between 12 to 18 inches I started with a River 2 Sea Bling spinner bait in I Know it Color with Diesel minnow trailer. Caught a few short fish in one 100 yard area and we continued to target that area throughout the morning catching 2 keepers and probably 15 in the 13 1/2 to 13 3/4 in range. Moved to a cove near the launch and caught a few keepers on a flat near dock on the thunder Cricket and also a Pearl Caffeine Shad. Was also able to flip a wacky rig shad colored 4" senko around the stump areas and get bites. There was large pods of baitfish in the area and to get bit we had to be in areas with clay bottoms with sporadic stumps or pilings from docks. The bass are really starting to move into the spawning areas but with the front moving through throughout this week it seems to be pushing the bigger females back to deeper water near the spawning areas.
