I achieved and excellent short video of the Daiwa Emcast and its capabilities. A live bluegill may thump the rod but it takes a game fish to pay the line out. The reel never feels over worked. The light weight of the reel makes it a candidate for chucking lures. BONUS: Daiwa rates the Emcast as salt water capable. I am converting nearly all of my setups to be driven by Daiwa Emcast BR spinning reels. Why not?

My 3 year old fishing buddy and I did some bluegilling here for our first time ever. Really nice high plains reservoir. The east shore is the dam which is earthen and reinforced with conglomerate rock boulders. The boulders provide adequate cover for small bluegill and bass minnows. There were many of each. The south shore was quite inviting on this sunny day. Oak and cottonwood trees provide shade that extends well in to the water, making it difficult to sight fish but with reeds, flooded brush and lay downs present, the lunkers must be nearby. The bottom is firm sand. The species listed are bass, bluegill, rainbow trout and catfish-my favorites! I plan to visit solo with my waders and a full complement of surface, spinner baits, worms, neds, etc.
