Morning water temps from 56-58 turned fish off and off of the beds. Weed flats had empty beds and fish were nowhere to be found. Once shallow water temps reached 65-66 midday fish slowly made their way to once empty beds. Wacky rigged Berkley General cast over beds triggered bites. Bedded fish were very aggressive as long as not immediately spooked. If spooked, return to the bed after 10-15 minutes and bites are easily triggered. I broke off a fish, returned about 20 minutes and was able to catch the same fish and retrieve the broke off hook. Spawn seems to just be kicking off, later in the day will produce better once temps hit 65+.

Humps
Using good mapping of the lake and your electronics to find rocky humps. I've caught good size largemouth around the rock structures using a 5" wacky rigged senko on a dropshot. I like to use an Arsenal Fishing silicone band when hooking wacky still with this presentation, helps keep the worm positioned right. Dragging the dropshot will result in some big fish!

Laydowns
Water temp was 60-62, bass were mostly shallow near laydowns and docks but also found a mixed bag of walleye, bass, and pike on the outside weed edges. Wacky rigged Senkos caught most of the bigger fish, but caught a few throwing the Owner flashy swimmer with a Keitech over the tops of the thick curly leaf pondweed. As always, ned rigs caught fish too, though most were smaller. Surprisingly few fish on jerkbaits and chatterbaits.

Spawn is at 60ish degree water. These two lakes are about a week later than other lakes due to being part of the Cannon River. If you are able to do it, make your way through the thick weed line until you are able to cast to shore along the overhanging treeline that surrounds Tetonka and Sakatah. Pop your frog and smash bass. You'll find 16" to 21"ers.

The lake is currently in post spawn transition as the water temps are already in the mid to upper 60s. The larger fish seem to be targeting spawning bluegills on shallow spawning flats. Look for large openings in the grass mats and pick these apart using a weightless wacky-rigged senko. The fish are cruising the thick weed edges so make sure to work your bait parallel to the grass edge or on the surface right inside of the grass edge. Stealth is KEY! If these fish see you, they will not bite. If you do spook them, back off and let them rest for 10-15 minutes before working the spot again. Repeat this pattern around the entire lake. Some stragglers are on beds, but this I would not recommend spending any time trying to bed fish as the majority of the fish are transitioning into summer patterns.

LMB are in full spawn on beds. You will find roamers close to the empty beds. Slow down and keep bugging them.
