This was one of the last days of true winter fishing that I had done from the boat and it was extremely tough. The water temps were in the low 40’s. The only thing that there is a lot of(that I could pattern) was brush piles and lay downs. The water was pretty clear too so that was a little more challenging( 6-10 ft visibility). The only thing that I could get bit on was a little 3/16 oz tungsten ball jig head and a 3.25 inch Strike King Rage Swimmer. The first bite I got on this was when I brought it over a lay down transitioning from shallow to deeper water. That was what my pattern had turned into. I was using 10lb suffix 832 brad to a 8lb suffix advanced fluorocarbon leader. I was using this on a M/L fast action 7ft spinning rod on a 3000 size spinning reel. I’m sure you could have gotten on an offshore bite too but we had more confidence beating the banks.

It was a very tough and cold winter day but managed to put some fish in the boat. Water temps were in the low 40's and the water was somewhat clear which was good. I just stuck to slow deeper water baits and it got the job done. Just slow down and drag stuff around and it will play in your favor. The biggest was the one on the DT 14 and it throttled it!
