The day started out slow. Couldn't get on a pattern. Bladed jigs and spinnerbaits were ineffective. Cranking the points and ledges wasn't working either. Flipping and dropshotting yielded nothing as well. Finally as I was making my way along outside edge of some standing timber chucking a strike king lipless crank, I managed my first fish. A 2 lb large mouth. I made my way to another spot that I normally don't spend alot of time on but the level was down significantly so i thought maybe the fish might be pushed out a little deeper and it paid off. I managed 4 more large mouths. 3 on consecutive casts. They must've just been bunched up there feeding on baitfish and I got lucky to be there at the right time. After that spot dried up, i kept moving along using the same approach and managed another hard fighting 3 pounder on the same lure. That gave me a total of six on the day. My trusty lews lfs baitcaster and strike king lipless red eye shad really came through for me. Hopefully as the weather cools , the fall bite will be a blast.

Fishing was a grind on Manasquan reservoir this weekend. Fish were tough to come by. Did manage to boat a couple fishing submerged vegetation. One drop shotting a wacky rigged yum dinger and another texas rigging an 11 inch Keitech mad wag long worm. Both off shore in 5-10 ft of water.
