Month:August Weather: Partially cloudy, variable wind from 3-8 mph changing directions, 80s Water Temp: 76-78 Depths: Deeper weed edges 14-20'. I launched from the reservoir's state launch at approximately 4:30 PM and noticed numerous vessels on the water. Jet ski and boat action was relatively heavy for the first hour I was on the water, but it did not seem to hinder the fishing. I took the boat to the old roadbed on the northern arm of the lake and began fishing the weed edge on the southern side of the dropoff. I immediately encountered bass when slowly twitching the ZMan Trick ShotZ in The Deal back to the boat in roughly 16' of water. The fish hit right as the plastic was pulled out of the weeds. This routine worked all along the roadbed and the western shoreline of the lake in 14-18'. It also work in the southern shore (in the eastern arm) and across the dam in slightly deeper water in 16-20'. In a couple hours of fishing, numerous bass were boated, mostly in the 1-2 pound range. This lake has lots of bass, but most are on the small side. Weeding through the small fish eventually leads to some bigger specimen and better fights.

Winds were high 10-20 mph, and it was a very bright afternoon. Crappie could be found on or near spawning areas, brush piles, lay downs, weed edges next to drop offs and the occasional tractor tire. The bite was not terribly hot, but a little lift and drop could get the fish fired up. Most fish were caught in 6-8' of water.
