I fished the lake on 04/15/23 for a small bass club tournament with a buddy of mine who needed a partner for the event. Earlier in the week, we had a very productive practice catching spawning fish in grass up shallow on flukes and chatterbaits, but over the rest of the week the water temperature dropped from 68+ degrees in our areas to around 62 degrees, and got a lot more stained. Needless to say, the tournament was much tougher on us than the practice day, as we only had 4 bites all day, with 2 of them being decent sized keepers, including the nice 3.5 pounder I have pictured with the report. It was a partly cloudy day, with a steady wind of about 15 miles per hour out of the south for most of the day, later shifting to about 25-30 miles per hour out of the west once the clouds went away and the sun came out. Water temperatures overall ranged from about 62-64 degrees, and the water visibility ranged from about 3 inches of visibility to about a foot of visibility everywhere we went on the lake. Early in the morning, I caught our better fish off of beds in a marina along a bank with matted grass, flipping a D Bomb into holes in the grass or along the edge. After that, we spent the day cranking a Hybrid Hunter along the dam and bridges on the lake, and were able to catch a few doing this as well. Overall, it was a tough day and we were pretty disappointed in our finish after such a great practice, and to cap it all off, I ended up sinking my bass boat at the weigh-in site due to some unfortunate circumstances, and our fish got out of the livewell (except for the one pictured), so we didn't even get to weigh in. Not to worry though, the boat is out of the water and in good shape, and I'll be back out on the water getting more good reports soon. Thank you all for reading my reports, and tight lines!

I fished the lake on 04/12/23 to practice for an upcoming tournament I have on the lake. The water temperature ranged from about 64 to 72 degrees across the lake, and the water clarity was pretty stable everywhere I went, with about a foot of visibility, and a slight greenish hue to the water. I got out to the lake at about 1:30 PM, and it was sunny outside with virtually no wind at all, and almost no clouds. Outside temperatures were in the high 70's and low 80's for the entire time I was out there. I spent the day targeting matted vegetation along steeper banks out in front of flooded brush, and the flooded brush itself, in smaller main lake pockets where the water was warming quickly and fish were positioning on beds. I targeted these areas with a weightless fluke fished slowly along the bottom in holes in the grass, and a chatterbait around the edges of the grass and the brush. After catching several nice ones doing this, including the 5.20 pictured below, I was also able to go find some rip rap banks on bridges and the dam across the lake and catch some solid fish cranking a squarebill as well. Overall it was a great day on the water, Lavon is fishing very good right now, so be sure and get out there! Thank you all for reading my reports and good luck!
