Cloudy overcast days had fish roaming but if there was shad in the area there was fish. Fishing a popping frog over lay downs caught a big one. The grass is slowly firing above surface but still health below. Any rattle trap worked through the grass caught fish. You could fish the same area with a worm and catch a few more Texas rigged.

Fish were holding to docks on the lower end of the lake near the damn. It was a cloudy day and the fish were spread out. We got bit on the back side and front side of docks. The darker colors seemed to work best. We caught most of them Texas rigged but we caught a few on a drop shot as well.

Walking baits in the morning produced good fish around boat docks. After the sun came out I used the culprit 7.5 inch tequila shad original worm around lay downs off the main lake on swing banks and was able to catch several more good fish. Me and my wife used these techniques and had five in the boat in no time and after culling a few times were able to place 4th out of 27 boats in a tournament yesterday.

I spent most of my time focusing the rocks right below the Oconee dam. There was no water flow from generation, so the water was slick calm. I saw water temps from 68-72, and had to work the bait ultra slow to get bit. The bite was good and lasted until around 11. After that, I targeted shallow pockets off the main river channel in dying hydrilla with a chatterbait.

Fished a chatterbait around schools of baitfish. I let it sink before quickly reeling it through the school. Caught a few 2 pounders, and a 5lb 12oz fish, the largest me or my fishing buddy have caught from this lake

Major cold front came through and dropped the water temps. Skipped jigs around docks that had some brush in front of them. That was key. The fish moved to the deeper part of the dock and were holding on the edges.

Portions of the lake in the creeks and mouths of creeks are still muddy from runoff, but I targeted the dying/dead grass edges for bites. I didn't run across any giants, but I did consistently get bit using the chatterbait. I think that bite my be dying off, but the fish should be in their winter holes very soon.
