Smallmouth are up shallow and on the move… this means you should be too because they usually won’t stay in the same place. We found that covering water was best for getting on smallmouth. Big rocks and points were best for targeting smallies. Livescope is a great tool to use for getting on these fish. They seem to be in 5-15 feet.

The water is very cold which is probably making the bite incredibly tough. If you can find fish on ffs that helps and you will likely catch them, but finding them is the hard part. We caught some fish on the Jerkbait and we had some big fish follow back the Huddleston. Don’t be fooled, we did not catch many and had few followers, but if you want to catch a giant those two baits should definitely be in the water. Also, the A-rig is a must have. Hopefully the water warms up which will help the bite immensely. Also the closer to March we get the more fish will be moving up Good luck and hope that helps.
